Comprehensive health care for the young athlete
The Vanderbilt Youth Sports Health Center brings together experts from Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt Sports Medicine to create specialized teams specifically trained in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent and young adult athletes.
Chronic health conditions and injuries don’t have to sideline young athletes. Our dedicated youth sports health team deploys the latest technology, expertise and individualized care to treat a variety of sports conditions and injuries and provide important sports health-related services, including:
Screenings for Athletes
- Cardiovascular health screening, including non-invasive tests like electrocardiograms (EKG)
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing for breathing difficulty
- Baseline concussion testing and vision exams
- Evaluation for clearance after a failed sports physical
- Infectious diseases, transmittable skin infections
- “Return to play” injury reviews
