Why Choose Care at the Vanderbilt Hemostasis Treatment Center
- Recognized care
Monroe Carell offers a nationally recognized, federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC). Our clinic is part of a network of about 140 HTCs in the United States. National studies show that children treated at HTCs spend less time in the hospital, less time away from school, and have better outcomes and lower healthcare costs.
- Comprehensive care
The clinic provides comprehensive health promotion with an emphasis on prevention of bleeding and bleeding-related problems, and offers a variety of services for patients with bleeding disorders. We also offer many opportunities for our patients to participate in current bleeding disorder research.
- Coordinated care
Our comprehensive team consists of physicians and nurse practitioners, as well as specialists in physical therapy, pharmacy, social work and child life. We work with clinical sub-specialists in both the adult and pediatric hospitals to provide coordinated care for a wide variety of clinical needs and services.
We offer a wide variety of educational services to our patients and their families, including sessions for patients newly diagnosed with bleeding disorders, as well as technical educational programs for port-a-cath or peripheral venous infusion to aid in home prophylactic therapy if needed.
- Experienced care
Our medical professionals and family support team members have experience and special interest in caring for children and young adults with blood disorders. We work closely with your family to determine the best treatment options and approach.
