The procedure I had was extremely painful. So painful that she couldn't finish it. I should have been given the option of pain management for the procedure. After it was over the doctor left the room and didn't come back. I was very upset as to how this was done. I cried all the way home.

Tara is phenomenal, kind, patient, great listener, and a great educator.

It was an overall odd and disappointing first visit. While I appreciate the doctor's efforts to involve my daughter in the appointment, I felt that the questioning process was overly focused on her, making it difficult for her to answer certain questions independently. Additionally, I found the doctor's interactions with both my daughter and I to be somewhat condescending. There was hesitancy to even make eye contact with me as the parent when I assisted with answering any questions my daughter could not answer. My daughter felt uncomfortable and pressure from her inability to answer the questions ask of her. My daughter was particularly uncomfortable with the question of whether she wanted me to leave the room. This is a sensitive topic, and I believe it would have been more appropriate for the doctor to not only ask the question, but explain the need of why she has to ask that question. There are so many different ways that this question could have been posed that would not have resulted in my daughter feeling uncomfortable. My daughter gave her a strange face when she asked the question and said, No, I do NOT want my mom to leave. I had to explain why the doctor must ask that question and why some children may not want to have their parent present. This should have been addressed by the doctor given my daughter's reaction to the question. As we walked out, my daughter asked me to find another doctor for future visits. This was her very first gynecological appointment and she was nervous. She asked for a female doctor. This doctor was recommended to us for her strength in working with younger patients, but I'll be honest she would have had a better experience had I just taken her to my Ob/Gyn and had her see the NP on staff. Even our interactions when we first walked into the reception area were disappointing. I will simply say the office staff was cordial and just took care of business. There was no warmth anywhere, which was just surprising from a gynecology office. The nurse who did vitals and brought us back to the room was the only welcoming spirit that we interacted with in the office, and that was minimal. We 100% will move to another doctor office. On a positive, the doctor did provide numerous treatment options, as well as pros/cons for each for which I am grateful. I do feel that the treatment option we chose was a good option.

Dr. Nielsen is always so kind, understanding, knowledgeable, helpful, informative, & just generally so good at what she does!

Dr. Nielsen is compassionate, caring, very observant with a bedside manner of a 10 with 10 being the highest. Love, love this talented,loving doctor.

I love Dr. Nielsen. She's kind, easy to talk to and always helpful with answering questions and offering practical advice.
