Women's Bleeding Disorders
The Women’s Bleeding Disorders Clinic at Vanderbilt addresses the special needs of young women with suspected or confirmed disorders affecting blood clotting. These disorders can cause more problems for women than for men because of heavy menstrual periods and the risk of bleeding in childbirth. We see patients with a personal or family history of bleeding disorders, including von Willebrand disease and hemophilia. We also see women with heavy menstrual bleeding concerns. We care for young women with thrombophilias and cancers who have unique needs related to menstruation, contraception or pregnancy and childbirth.
