Sarcoma Program

Our pediatric cancer specialists in the Sarcoma Program at Monroe Carell create personalized treatment plans for children with sarcomas. Oncologists, surgeons, pathologists and radiologists work together in the only integrated sarcoma clinic in the southeastern U.S. We have extensive surgical expertise treating children, teenagers and young adults in all medical specialties. These include interventional radiology, pediatric surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, urology, head and neck, gastrointestinal, ophthalmology, cardiac, vascular, plastics and reconstruction. As the fourth largest patient care site in the nation for orthopaedic surgical oncology, we diagnose and treat over 300 patients each year. We discuss every sarcoma patient's case in our tumor board meetings, where experts from across Vanderbilt decide the best possible treatment for your child.

These compassionate experts provide help and support to all children living with cancer, at every stage of the care experience. We also work with Teen Cancer America, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Consortium of Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Centers (CAYACC). Together we discover and learn more to improve outcomes for teens and young adults with cancer.

    All patients have access to the REACH Survivorship Clinic after completing treatment. We offer a full range of follow-up care designed to meet your child’s physical, emotional and practical needs. You will receive a personalized Cancer Survivorship Care Plan that will be your child’s roadmap for future health and well-being.

Levi's Story

Levi Grubb of Dixon, Tennessee, was diagnosed with epithelioid sarcoma (ES), a rare form of cancer that can occur in children and teenagers. Our pediatric cancer team created a treatment plan for Levi that brought him a cure. Levi celebrated with his doctors after five years being cancer-free.
