Chapel and chaplains

The Children’s Hospital Chapel is always open for prayer and meditation. You will also find two prayer rooms, open to everyone, inside the Chapel. Chaplains are available for your family's support and comfort. A 30-minute non-denominational worship service is held each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. You may request a visit by calling pastoral care at (615) 936-0425, or by asking your child's nurse or the Guest Services representative to call for you.

Social worker and case manager

A social worker and case manager are available Monday through Friday and on-call during weekends to provide support and information on needed resources. Your child's nurse can contact them if you would like to speak with one of them.

Child Life Services

Child life specialists work with patients and families to reduce the stress and anxiety that comes with a child’s stay in the hospital. Their work helps to meet the developmental, psychosocial, educational and emotional needs of patients and families. The child life specialist provides opportunities to help children enhance their self-esteem and retain appropriate independence, and provide opportunities for normal growth and development through play.

The Junior League Family Resource Center is a family information headquarters with books, brochures, videos and CDs for families and friends of children with chronic illnesses, disabilities or injuries. You can find materials about your child's condition, growth and development, and other concerns. There is also information about health organizations, agencies and advocacy and support groups related to your child's condition. Materials on health, development, coping and sibling issues are available for children and adolescents as well as for adults. You can check out items or make a request for information by phone or email.

Family Advisory Council

The Family Advisory Council with the hospital staff to improve care and the hospital environment, and links the hospital with the community. They welcome your participation.

Pediatric Advisory Council

The Pediatric Advisory Council uses feedback and advice from our pediatric patients to improve our care and hospital.
