Specialty Clinic Rehabilitation Services
Overview
The occupational and physical therapists at Children's Hospital's Pediatric Rehabilitation Services participate in these clinics along with the medical teams at Doctors Office Tower in Children’s Hospital. Our therapists follow children in the clinics to assess their current needs and provide referrals as needed for such services as outpatient therapy near your home, equipment evaluations and orthotics.
Programs with rehabilitative services
We also provide for assessment and management of wheelchair and seating needs in our Special Needs Mobility Program in Pediatric Rehabilitation at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks.
Aquatic Therapy at the Vanderbilt Dayani Center
The Aquatic Therapy program at Children’s Hospital provides an alternative environment for therapy using the properties of water. The Aquatic therapy setting offers children an opportunity to improve mobility, coordination, strength, endurance, balance, sensory-proprioceptive awareness and self-confidence. The support the water provides during movements may allow your child to move more freely and independently or to practice higher levels of movement skills such as standing or walking. This can help your child make progress toward land-based therapy goals.
Aquatic Pediatric Therapy takes place on Monday and Tuesday mornings at the Vanderbilt Dayani Center pool.
We require a medical referral from a physician or nurse practitioner to schedule an appointment. Fax referrals to (615) 343-0506. Appointments are made once we receive your referral.
