Play and Activity Room Hours
Playrooms are just off the elevators behind the greeter's desk on each floor. If your child is restricted to their room, you may borrow toys and activities from the playroom. Volunteers may be available to play with your child in playrooms. We have a special area for brothers and sisters to play on the second floor.

- Second floor sibling playroom: Ages 18 months and older
- Sixth floor playroom: Ages birth - 4 years
- Seventh floor playroom: Ages 5 - 11 years
- Eighth floor teen room: Ages 12 years and older
Answers to Common Questions
Will my child be able to play?
At bedside or in the play and activity rooms, there are toys and activities available for all ages. Whether it’s rattles or music toys for infants, puzzles or video games for school-aged children, or pool table and arts for teens, there is something for everyone.
The Infant/Toddler playroom is located on the sixth floor and is available for patients up to four years old and their friends and family. The School Age playroom is located on the seventh floor and is available for patients five to 11 years old and their friends and family. The adolescent activity room, located on the eighth floor, is available for patients 12 years and older. Teens may invite their siblings, ages 12 and older, parents, and friends with them to the activity room.
Can we watch movies?
DVD players are available in patient rooms. You may bring movies from home or check them out from the DVD Kiosk. You may check out one movie at a time.
Can brothers and sisters visit in the play and activity room?
If siblings and friends are healthy and up to date with immunizations, they may play in the play and activity rooms, when accompanied by the patient they are visiting and a supervising adult. A Sibling playroom is available on the second floor for siblings ages 18 months to 14 years.
What about volunteers?
Children's Hospital volunteers are trained and supervised by Child Life staff. Volunteers provide breaks for families and recreational activities for patients in the play and activity rooms and at bedside.
Can we eat and drink in the play and activity rooms?
Because many patients have dietary restrictions, food and drink are not allowed in the play and activity rooms.
Can my child receive medicine and treatments in the play and activity rooms?
No exams or medical procedures are allowed in the play and activity rooms. We want to provide a safe place for children and their families to visit for play and relaxation.
