Learn More about Friends

Become a Friend and make a difference

Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a volunteer organization supporting hospital patients and families through fundraising, outreach and programs. Founded in 1972, the Friends organization plays a vital role in hospital support. Whether providing free meals for families or funding hospital needs, the impact of Friends is felt throughout Monroe Carell.

When you become a Friend by making a gift, you receive special access to volunteer opportunities. Every Friend makes a difference!

Volunteering

There are a variety of opportunities for Friends who wish to volunteer. New Friends can denote volunteer interest when making their first gift. If you are already a Friend and wish to volunteer, email friends@vumc.org.

Hospital Support

Giving to Friends means supporting programs designed to help ease stress for patients and their families. The following are hosted by Friends volunteers:

  • Lunch Bunch
  • Friends Bingo
  • Family picnic on July 4
  • Time for Remembering
  • Health care hero event

Fundraising Events and Efforts

Friends coordinates fundraising events and campaigns throughout the year, all of which include volunteer opportunities. Friends are invited to participate in all events.
